December 8 marked the 33rd anniversary of John Lennon’s murder, and to honor the icon, electronic musician and DJ Nicolas Jaar shared an hour-long mix. Titled “OUR WORLD,” the mix can be heard in full below off his Other People label.
Jaar’s mix pulls together the typical array of sounds found in his music: drone, film music, experimental piano works, and heavy beat-orientated snippits. The mix begins with a Lennon interview and a news broadcast piece covering his death. About 20 minutes in, you can hear a Black Friday clip of a fight at a Wal-Mart, and the end of the mix closes with Jaar’s own remix of “Oh My Love” off of 1971’s Imagine.
